Michael Cordell is one of Australia’s most established producers and directors. He made his first documentary at twenty, Franklin Wild River. After stints in print and television journalism he directed the 1996 feature documentary Year of the Dogs, described by the SMH as one of the ten best sports films of all time. Other directing credits include Three Boys Dreaming and On Trial, the first murder trial filmed in Australia.
Michael was EP and writer on Go Back to Where You Came From. The factual format for SBS won the Rose d’Or for the best international TV production of 2011 and an International Emmy in 2013. Michael was EP on the Two Men in a Tinnie series featuring Tim Flannery and John Doyle. He is EP on six-time Logie winner Bondi Rescue, now in it’s 12th season. Recent factual productions include Revolution School, Kebab Kings and Pauline Hanson – Please Explain!
Michael was a producer on House of Hancock, the highest rating drama on the Nine network in 2015. He is currently EP on an Alan Bond drama for Nine and a factual series on the local courts for Foxtel.
