Australian-born producer and film executive, Peter Lawson, has built an award-winning and profitable career over the past two decades, collaborating with top directing, producing, and acting talent resulting in more than $1 Billion in Worldwide Box Office revenue, more than 60 feature films, 15 Academy Award and 11 Golden Globe nominations, winning four Oscars and four Golden globes, including Best Picture, Best Actress and Best Screenplay on movies overseen on the Distribution and Production side as Production Executive and Executive Producer.

As Executive Vice President of Production and Acquisitions for Open Road Films, he served as an executive producer on Tom McCarthy’s critically and commercially acclaimed film SPOTLIGHT (Oscar Winner for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay, BAFTA Winner for Best Original Screenplay, SAG Winner for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, and multiple Critics’ Awards, $88 million Worldwide Box Office) starring Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber, Stanley Tucci. He was also an executive producer on Australian Director, John Hillcoat’s crime drama TRIPLE NINE that stars Kate Winslet, Woody Harrelson, Aaron Paul, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Casey Affleck, and Norman Reedus. This was his third successful collaboration with Hillcoat.

He also executive produced SLEEPLESS, Open Road’s first in-house production, starring Jamie Foxx and Michelle Monaghan to be released Feb 2017, along with Oliver Stone’s SNOWDEN, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley, to be released Sep 16, 2016.

As Head of Acquisitions he was also responsible for acquiring NIGHTCRAWLER directed by Dan Gilroy (the Bourne Legacy) and starring Oscar nominated Jake Gyllenhaal, and BLEED FOR THIS, directed by Ben Younger (Boiler Room, Prime) and starring Miles Teller and Aaron Eckhart, which just had its world premiere at the prestigious Telluride and Toronto Film Festivals. Both films were acquired in heated bidding wars during the Cannes Film Festival.

As President of Production at Thunder Road Films, Lawson executive produced the box office, action thriller hit JOHN WICK, starring Keanu Reeves and Willem Dafoe (Grossing $86 Million worldwide, and warranting a sequel). He set up remakes and is a Producer on the French gangster film GANG STORY and serves as an executive producer on MARIE COLVIN, based on a true story and starring Charlize Theron.

Prior to joining Thunder Road, he was Executive Vice President, Acquisitions and Co-Productions at The Weinstein Company, where he oversaw a diverse slate of commercially successful, award-winning and critically acclaimed films including John Hillcoat’s LAWLESS (starring Tom Hardy and Jessica Chastain, $53 Million Worldwide Box Office) THE INTOUCHABLES ($426 Million Worldwide Box Office), UNDEFEATED (Academy Award winner for Best Documentary and winner of the Critics’ Choice Award), THE IRON LADY starring Meryl Streep (Winner of Academy Award for Best Actress, SAG Award and Golden Globe for Best Actress, $114 Million Worldwide Box Office), BLUE VALENTINE starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams(Academy Award nominee for Best Actress), BULLY (Critics Choice Award), THE TILLMAN STORY (National Board of Review winner) and John Wells’ THE COMPANY MEN starring Ben Affleck and Kevin Costner.

Previously, Lawson headed up the acquisitions team at Miramax and was responsible for acquiring such films as Julian Schnabel’s THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY (nominated for four Academy Awards and winner of two Golden Globe Awards).
