Serge Ou brings to his love of film, in all its forms, an eclectic mix of influences. Born in Geneva, raised in the USA and Australia and of Chinese and Armenian descent, Serge’s cultural influences and love of all things pop culture, design and music (he is still in a punk
rock band!) inform his creative endeavours. Serge Ou has directed over 150 commercials and 100 sponsored programs throughout his professional career, including over 60 hours of international television for Europe, the U.S., and Asia.
His work has aired on ABC, Nine Network, Discovery, National Geographic, ZDF, NDR, BIO, the History Channel – where his programmes have been the highest rating for the past three
years – and his recent work in China for CCTV9, CCTV10, and Beijing TV has been watched by tens of millions of people. In addition to his extensive work in television, dozens of Serge’s films have been realized at festivals all over the world, including Tampere, Boston, and Granada. His films have garnered over 50 international awards and titles, including becoming a Tropfest Finalist, Best Film at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, the Gold Remi at Worldfest, and the Gold Dolphin at Cannes Media and Television Awards.
Serge’s directing was recently lauded by The Australian for the three-part series Changed Forever: The Making of Australia, which focuses on Australia’s involvement in the First World
War. The “lush production [was] expertly steered by director Serge Ou”, and “cinematically realized on an almost operatic scale”. Serge is a Member of AACTA, and the Australian Film Academy.
