XYZ Films is an LA-based film production and sales company founded in 2008 by Nate Bolotin, Nick Spicer, and Aram Tertzakian. XYZ has a particular focus on smart and prestige genre films with broad international appeal. XYZ has production partnerships with Netflix, Lionsgate, Wigwam Films and New Zealand’s General Film Corporation, and has also recently moved into distribution, in partnership with Vertical Entertainment. Simon de Bruyn joined the company in 2011 as an acquisitions executive focusing on Australia and New Zealand, following a previous career as a journalist, including senior roles at Business Review Weekly and Inside Film.

As for TV, we are interested in genre series based on existing properties – whether that’s a book or graphic novel or an existing series remake or even a feature film that can be expanded into a series. Our strength in TV is packaging with A list talent/showrunner who we then work with to develop a US remake/adaptation idea to pitch to the networks/cable/streaming and then would develop the series from there once it’s picked up. We have shows in development with NBC, HBO and Showtime – an existing series being remade, a documentary being adapted into a series and a feature film being adapted into a series. In rare cases we’d also look at a great web series or similar as a proof of concept for a series. This is particularly the case with comedy. We aren’t looking at original content that doesn’t have a significant proof of concept and proven audience.
